When you think of reptiles kept as pets, what are some of the first creatures that come to mind? Maybe you think of leopard geckos or bearded dragons since they’re among the most common lizards kept as pets. Maybe you’re picturing something a bit more exotic, like a chameleon or a ball python.[1]

One of the reasons why herpetoculture is so fascinating to so many people is that it’s unique. Instead of adopting a traditional furry pet like a dog or cat, many of the people who choose to care for a scaly cold-blooded pet are attracted to their unconventional nature and appearance.
