The Changeable Hawk-Eagle (Nisaetus cirrhatus) used to be rare in Singapore, but is now getting more common with 9 nesting pairs estimated in a year [1].

There are 5 subspecies – cirrhatus, ceylanensis, andamanensis, limnaeetus and vanheurni. The nominate race is found in south India; ceylanensis in Sri Lanka; andamanensis in Andaman Islands; and vanheurni in Simeulue Island. limnaeetus has the widest range from north India throughout Southeast Asia to Philippines and Sulawesi [2]. The ones found in Singapore are of the race limnaeetus.

In Singapore, it is listed as a common resident breeder.

There are two morphs – pale and dark.

Adult pale morph has brown upperparts, pale underparts with black streaks and barred thighs.
